Such good reminders here - the phrase “Audience of One” comes to mind. I should always seek to please God above all, regardless of any thanks from anyone.

Sara… your words here have really stayed with me, especially this part: “the ones that pay us back aren’t often the ones who change us.”

There’s so much truth tucked into that. It’s been turning over in my mind ever since I read it. 🤍

“Why am I doing this?” It’s the best question when I begin to feel frustration and resentment creeping in… or when I’m just a little too happy with myself.

Yet, we can’t walk through life beating ourselves up either. We are to love others as we love ourselves. It’s a tricky balance that’s impossible to live well in the flesh. Lord, teach me to keep in step with Your Spirit.

Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us.

Wow this is exactly what I have been struggling with. I’ve been praying for deep friendships without being “needed or useful” also the more I learn about being an enneagram 2 the more I don’t love this about my self but also recognizing my motives and self worth.

Very timely for me to hear your words of wisdom and the Bible reference about those who cannot repay you...words for me to ponder and pray about for myself. Thank you.

I'm pondering, too, Beth ❤️
