Winter got dressed the other night. Outside my window, just shy of a foot of snow had fallen.

In one night, the skeletal branches, skittish to the wind, became our winter wonderland. Layers of oak and evergreen bowed to the ground under a heavy tinsel of white.

In just one night.

It reminds me of the rush of hope I feel every turn of the new year. January …
