When idealism ends … and hope begins

We so easily live in the world of the ideal.

Holding a three-month-old baby, our minds are full of imagination — dreaming of what she’ll be like, how she will serve God, how she will shine.

One month into engagement, sitting with a married couple who had a tiff — and we say to each other, as we leave their house, “that’s so sad. That will never be us.”
