Just as balm makes one initially flinch because the wound itself is so tender and deep, so do I find my heart yearning and longing and aching (and wincing) at these precious, comforting words that reflect our Savior's heart and plan for us. Oh, Lord, may I wait until I'm satisfied. Both in You, and with Your likeness...and shift the object of my waiting to THAT. Even in my waiting, I will watch for you. You WILL meet me, in your steadfast love. Help my unbelief.

"shift the object of my waiting to THAT" ... yes, Janelle, I want that too

Thank you for this. I've been waiting for four years. Oh the things our Father has taught me in the waiting! It's been difficult but so good, so worthwhile. You feed my spirit and I'm grateful for your ministry.

I suspect there are so many stories that emerge from the waiting room. Even reading your comment reminds me of how He does that ...

Oh my goodness. I am so grateful to the Lord for giving me (us) you. Your story. Your amazing gifts of words and writing and a heart that wants to bring it all to us. Thank you. The Lord has grown my ability to surrender to remarkable levels this year. He has taught me how to grow my faith and trust. Has given me a wonderful reality perspective that has His presence and 'bigger' into what I now know but had no idea how much I needed to see. All you've invested here has poured into my weary soul in ways that has overflowed to others that would otherwise not happened. God bless you and yours as you no doubt continue to make Him the center of all you do. Will continue to be anxious in anticipating all He will do through your journey. Thank you for being so generous and willing to pour it out there for us to glean and grow alongside.

Thank you for these beautifully written words. Two thoughts came to mind while reading... (neither is originally my own) - Red Sea Rule #2, "Be more concerned for God's glory than for your relief" from "The Red Sea Rules" by Robert Morgan and "The only way out is through," from a GriefShare class I took last year after my father's death.

Margaret, you & I are on the same path. My Sunday school class read the Red Sea Rules in spring, and I read the daily Griefshare daily emails. This year I lost both of my parents. Mom in January, and Dad in September to Covid. All of my family is on the west coast & I'm in Virginia so we could not gather for celebration of life yet. The waiting is hard. But God keeps assuring me through different studies: the Genesis study of Sarah, Advent study of Elizabeth. And God brought a strengthened connection with my 5 siblings through monthly Zoom calls. Without Covid I would not have thought of using Zoom.

Excellent word Sara... Interestingly enough Those that wait on the Lord will indeed renew their Strength..... This scripture was on my heart all day yesterday!! Thank you for your most tender 💗

yes, it struck me this way ... what a wild gift He gives to those who wait (and how counter is that gift to what I think will come of the wait?!)
