The world is coarse. Unforgiving. Fault-finding and canceling. Callous to the heart that beats behind another’s armed words. And in these winterized days, I find myself hovering around an ever-unfolding opposite. A fire-warmth to my frozen fingers and nose and eyelashes, amid the bitter cold of our culture. Perhaps this fire will serve as more than a remembrance of the warmth that was and that can be, but enable us to survive these days.
